Many South Africans Left Wondering Why Their Applications Were Denied
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is important for many South Africans.
However, numerous applicants have been disappointed and confused after their 2026 applications were rejected.
Reasons Why Your Sassa SRD Application Was Rejected
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has outlined several reasons applications may decline. These include:
- Employment and income tax contributions: If Sassa finds that you have been employed and have made income tax contributions.
- Inconsistent personal details: If the personal information you provided does not match those on file with the Department of Home Affairs.
- Receipt of other social grants: If you currently receive a social grant other than a child grant.
- Registration with NSFAS: If you are registered with and benefit from the National Student Fund Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
- UIF benefits: If you qualify for UIF benefits or are currently receiving Unemployment Insurance Fund benefits.
- Government employment: If you are employed in a government institution.
- Age requirements: If you do not meet or are above 60.
- Deceased registration: If you have been registered as deceased in the Department of Home Affairs database,
- Exceeding income threshold: If you receive more than R624 in your monthly bank account.
